Digital Dental Implants

Dental implants are a well-established option for replacing missing teeth and may help restore function and appearance. They are designed to integrate with the jawbone, providing support for replacement teeth that can feel stable and comfortable for many patients.

If you have missing teeth, everyday activities such as eating and speaking may become more difficult, and this can also affect confidence in your smile. Dental implants may assist in improving these concerns by supporting a natural-looking and functional outcome.

Implant-supported teeth are designed to resemble natural teeth in appearance and function, and they can be maintained with regular oral hygiene and professional care.

Suitability for dental implants varies. A comprehensive assessment is required to determine whether this treatment is appropriate for you. As with any dental procedure, there are risks and recovery considerations, which will be discussed with your dentist prior to treatment.

What are Digital Dental Implants in Sydney?

At TCare Dental®, we use the latest digital technology to offer advanced digital dental implants in Sydney. By creating a 3D computer simulation (CTCB), your experienced practitioner can assess your jawbone’s condition and the nerves’ position.

During dental implant surgery, we aim to make a minor incision possible, as this can speed up the healing process and cause less discomfort following the surgery.

Digital dental implants allow for precise positioning and improved imitation of the appearance and lustre of your natural teeth.

What are the Benefits of Dental Implants?

Dental implants are a long-term solution for replacing missing teeth, offering both functional and aesthetic benefits. Unlike removable dentures, implants are fixed in place, providing stability for eating, speaking, and daily comfort. They are designed to mimic natural tooth roots, helping preserve jawbone density and prevent facial collapse over time. Implants also protect adjacent teeth, as they do not rely on neighbouring teeth for support like traditional bridges. With proper care, dental implants can last many years, making them a predictable and durable option. In addition, they restore a natural-looking smile, improving confidence and overall quality of life.

What is the Dental Implants Procedure?

The dental implant process takes place over several months. Although this might sound daunting, it’s important to remember that your dental implant has the potential to last you for a lifetime.

During your initial consultation, your dentist will assess the condition of your teeth and jaw to determine the type of implant you need. If your bone density is inadequate, you may also need a bone graft to support the implant.

The first step of the dental implant procedure involves replacing the natural tooth root with a titanium tooth root. This is a digitally guided procedure to ensure the precise placement of the implants. Most patients report a quick recovery from this generally well-tolerated dental surgery.

It takes about three or four months for the artificial tooth root to integrate permanently into the jawbone. After this healing process, the dentist will check to ensure the dental implant has integrated adequately before attaching the second part of the implant, referred to as the abutment. This part of the implant is used to attach the dental restoration.

Following the procedure, you should rest completely for a day or two. Swelling and bleeding are normal and can be treated with a cold compress. Avoid hard, solid foods and stick to soft foods that require little to no chewing, such as oatmeal, ice cream, pudding, scrambled eggs, and more. Maintain your oral hygiene with mouthwash, but avoid brushing and flossing your teeth for a few days, as this can further irritate your gums.

Ensure that you take any medications prescribed to you, and contact your dentist should you notice any unusual symptoms following the procedure.

Dental Implants Can Last Longer

The good news is that dental implants do not require special maintenance to remain viable. For example, you brush, floss, and visit your dentist regularly for exams and teeth cleans to contribute to implant longevity—the same tips we offer for natural teeth.

Brushing, flossing, and visiting your dentist regularly may lower your infections and gum disease risks that can lead to implant failure and further tooth loss.

For example, if you have an implant-supported bridge, your dentist may recommend a small cleaning brush and floss threader to keep debris and bacteria away from your gums. This is a simple addition to your at-home routine.
